No-exam life insurance
Who gets accelerated underwriting, how the process works, and what happens if you do not qualify.
Many carriers offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants in certain age and amount ranges, they make a decision from your application, prescription records, driving history and other information—no paramedical exam needed. Some carriers decide the same day. Every quote here says whether that product needs an exam, might need one, or does not.
What it changes
No exam does not mean no underwriting. Your answers are checked, and any policy issued based on wrong information can be challenged for two years. If information available to the carrier creates questions, an exam or lab work may be requested anyway; you can choose whether to go on at that point.
Who tends to qualify
Generally, applicants under age 60 applying for coverage under the carrier's accelerated limit, with no serious medical history and no tobacco use for at least a year. If your doctor recently did blood work, some carriers use those results instead of requiring their own exam.
If an exam is required, a paramedical examiner usually visits your home or office in the Manteca area for 20 to 30 minutes, at no cost to you. If you are in good health, exam results often lead to a better rate class, so the exam is not necessarily bad news.
